| Audition Details: | For those wanting to audition for an acting/singing role (Lead, Supporting, or Ensemble): Please plan to attend Actor/Singer auditions on either Thursday March 19th OR Friday March 20th. For those selected, in person callbacks will be held Saturday March 21st. All those called back will be required to attend Dance Auditions on Saturday March 21st following Acting/Singing call backs. Anyone that auditioned for an acting/singing role but was not called back may attend Dance Auditions for a spot on the Dance ensemble/Dance team, if you would like. For those wanting to audition solely for a role on the Dance Ensemble/Dance Team: Attendance at the in person Dance Auditions on Saturday March 21st is required. For those selected, Dance Callbacks will immediately follow Dance Auditions. For All: Dance in tennis shoes, barefoot, or dance shoes. Please wear clothes that are easy to dance in (preferably not a skirt or dress). If you are wanting to wear something specific for Actor/Singer call backs, a change of clothes would be required. If chosen for a Dance Callback, tap dancing will be expected so please bring tap shoes if you have them. Tap shoes are recommended but not required. Please note that 9 to 5 The Musical contains mature content, adult language, and themes revolving around feminism, misogyny, and sexual harassment. Scenes may contain blocking and interaction to support ideas of workplace misconduct, etc. An intimacy and fight choreographer will be hired and utilized for this production for the safety and comfort of all those cast in roles requiring them. |

| Requirements: | Please note that 9 to 5 The Musical contains mature content, adult language, and themes revolving around feminism, misogyny, and sexual harassment. Scenes may contain blocking and interaction to support ideas of workplace misconduct, etc. An intimacy and fight choreographer will be hired and utilized for this production for the safety and comfort of all those cast in roles requiring them. Please also review character descriptions as some characters may require specific costuming. Keep in mind that the age breakdown is just a suggestion, if you believe you are a good fit for a certain character, come and audition. If you have the right voice, look, or vibe, you may just get the part! For Actor/Singer auditions: Prepare up to 1 minute of a selection from a musical of your choosing. Please be prepared to sing acapella or along to a track, a speaker will be provided at auditions. Be prepared for a cold reading from the musical. Sides will be provided upon your arrival to auditions. |

VIOLET NEWSTEAD
Female. 40-50. Alto (F3–D5). (Moments of intimacy with the actor playing Joe.) A smart, efficient, widowed mother of a teenage son who is constantly being passed up for promotion in the boys’-club world of climbing the corporate ladder. She is frustrated with her position, but not bitter. Witty, strong, ambitious. JUDY BERNLY Female. 25-40. Mezzo-soprano (Ab3–F5). (Moments of intimacy with the actors playing Frank and Dick.) A meek housewife with her first foray into the working world when her husband runs off with his secretary. A bit insecure, but still determined, and hopeful. DORALEE RHODES Female. 20-30. Soprano with high belt (G3–E5) (Moments of intimacy with the actors playing Dwayne and Frank.) A sexy, country gal who is the secretary for the boss. She is misunderstood due to (false) rumors about an affair with the Boss. Country singing. Comedy is sharp and no-nonsense. (Please note this character will have specific costume requirements based on physical attributes) FRANKLIN HART Male. 30-60 Baritone (Gb4–C3) (Moments of intimacy with the actors playing Judy, Doralee, Roz, and Missy. Prolonged periods of being tied up.) A pompous jerk of a boss. If he weren’t the boss, he would have no friends at all. He’s a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical Bigot. ROZ KEITH Female, 30+ Alto (C5–G3) (Moments of intimacy with the actor playing Frank.) The office busy-body, is not-so-secretly in love with Mr. Hart, and does everything she can to undermine the rest of the office to earn his affections. Over the top comedic role. JOE Male, 25-35 Tenor (G4–B2) (Moments of intimacy with the actor playing Violet.) Charming, attractive accountant who is interested in Violet. May double in the Ensemble. DWAYNE RHODES Male, 20-30 Tenor (G4–E2) (Moments of intimacy with the actor playing Doralee.) Doralee’s supportive husband. Country. Doubles in the Ensemble. DICK BERNLY Male, 35-50 (Moments of intimacy with the actors playing Judy and one female ensemble member.) Judy's soon-to-be ex-husband. An average guy, he is sporting a little less hair and a little more paunch than he did ten years ago. A non-singing role, but may double in the Ensemble. JOSH NEWSTEAD Male, 18-25. Violet’s awkward teenage son. A Male character, but could be played by a female identifying ensemble member if needed. A non-singing role, but may double in the Ensemble. KATHY Female, 20+ Office gossip. Non-Singing, but may double in the Ensemble. MARGARET Female, 25+ Office drunk. Non-Singing, but may double in the Ensemble MARIA Female, 18+ Young and vibrant secretary. Doubles in the Ensemble. MISSY HART Female, 25-40 (Moments of intimacy with the actor playing Frank.) Hart’s Wife. Fluttery and ditzy. Doubles in the Ensemble. TINSWORTHY Male, 50+ The CEO of Consolidated Industries. Non-Singing, but may double in the Ensemble. ENSEMBLE MEMBERS Will need strong ensemble dancers and singers, to fill in the world as office employees, cowhands, fantasy characters, Barbies, Doctors, Detectives, a Candy Striper, and other characters to bring this world to life.
