A Christmas Story

Ralphie: (age 9-11) - bright, winsome, mischievous, cute kid. Not a smart-aleck or overly precocious, Ralphie's imagination drives several scenes.

The Old Man: (age 30s to 40s) - Gruff and grumbling on the exterior, Ralphie's Dad has a good heart and loves his family.

Mother: (age 30s to 40s) - She is the secret engine that runs the family, keeping the household together with a smile. Vibrant, warm, affable--but not a pushover--she is always busy.

Randy: (age 7-9) - Ralphie's younger brother, he is cute, cuddly, lovable and whiny. He looks up to his big brother, tries to keep up with him, and is young enough that he can be convinced to eat his dinner like a baby piggy!

Miss Shields: (age 20s to 50s) - Ralphie's 5th grade teacher, prim and proper, stern when necessary, though warm and even humorous when the situation merits it.

Santa: (age: 30s to 60s) - The Santa Claus at Higbee's Department Store is illtempered, slightly inebriated and very unhappy with his job.

Flick: (age 9-11) - A classmate and best buddy of Ralphie and Schwartz.

Schwartz: (age 9-11) - A classmate and best buddy of Ralphie and Flick.

Esther Jane: (age 9-11) - A classmate. Sweet, best friends with Helen, likes Ralphie.

Helen: (age 9-11) - A classmate. Smart, no-nonsense, opinionated, and best friends with Esther Jane.

Scut Farkus: (age 11-13) - schoolyard bully; loud, obnoxious, and intimidating.

*Parents/Guardians of minors will be required to volunteer for two tech rehearsals/performances backstage. Two adults will oversee the kids during the runs -Details and sign-ups to come after casting.
