Edward Bloom – male presenting: must play age 20-55; vocal range: Bb3-G5/Bb2-G4; Edward is a first rate storyteller trying desperately to create a life that will be remembered and connect to his only son, Will. Will Bloom - male presenting: age early 20s; vocal range: Db4-A5/Db3-Ab4; Will is a young man trying desperately to not repeat his father’s choices. But through tracing his father’s past, he learns that there was so much more to his father than he never knew. Sandra Bloom - female presenting: must play age 20-55; vocal range: G3-E5; Sandra is utterly and devoutly in love with Edward Bloom. She wants nothing more than for Will and Edward to reconcile their differences. Young Will Bloom - male presenting; age 8-11; vocal range: unchanged voice; Young Will shows us the early relationship with his father…one where Edward once was his hero, telling him fascinating stories. Josephine/Ensemble - female presenting: age early 20s; vocal range: Ab3-Db5; Josephine is Will’s fiancee and wants Will and Edward to reconnect, and for Will to find meaning in Edward’s stories. The Witch/Ensemble - the role of the Witch has been cast Karl, the giant/Ensemble - male presenting: age 20-50; vocal range: F2-D4; Karl is a giant in one of Edward’s stories. Looking for someone tall and/or willing to walk with carpenter stilts. Also serves as a member of the ensemble. Amos/Ensemble - male presenting: age 20-50; vocal range: C4-G5; Amos runs the traveling circus that comes through town and introduces Edward to Sandra. Also serves as a member of the ensemble. Don Price/Ensemble - male presenting: age 20-30; vocal range: C4-C5; Edward’s high school friend and eventual nemesis. Also serves as a member of the ensemble. Zacky Price/Ensemble - male presenting: age 20s; vocal range: C4-A5/C3-A4; Don’s younger, nerdy brother. Also serves as a member of the ensemble. Jenny Hill/Ensemble - female presenting: age 20-40; vocal range: Db4-D5; Edward’s first girlfriend and someone he continued to help through his life. Also serves as a member of the ensemble. Ensemble: 2 female presenting actors: vocal range: F3-G5; play townspeople, circus performers, nurses, etc. |
