Pure Glitter

Pure Glitter, a dazzling new play by Douglas Lyons is a love letter to the chaotic, shimmering world of chosen family and the queer experience. Set in the vibrant chaos of Stan and Tony's 10th anniversary surprise party, this comedy dives into the lives of six unforgettable gay men--each with their own flair, flaws, and fabulousness. Stan, the curator in crisis, hosts a night meant to celebrate love, but the arrival of flamboyant Rance, nervous Blair, chill Dwight, wise-beyond-his-years Niko, and mediator Tony sparks a cascade of unexpected drama. As exes collide and cocktails fly, this celebratory evening asks one tight group of gays to put their true cards on the table. A slice of life comedy about chosen family.

Requirements:
Roles Available: STAN (Late 30’s - mid 40’s, male identifying actor. Any ethnicity) – He is in a bit of a life crisis. Stan has the tendency to put on airs to impress others, even if it means lying to himself. He is the curator of the group, always bringing people together.

RANCE (Early - mid 40’s, male identifying or non-binary actor. Black or Hispanic) - Gaudy from the moment he exited the womb. Think shawls, leopard print and shades in gray weather. Rance is both the life of the party and the most loyal friend you’ll ever find. Note: This character uses the pronouns He/Him throughout the play.

BLAIR (Late 30’s - early 40’s, male identifying actor. Any ethnicity) - A ball of nervous energy. He can be a lot. Blair will blabber first and think later. He is a lover and listener who is easily triggered to tears.

DWIGHT (Late 30’s - mid 40’s, male identifying actor. Any ethnicity) - A chill, under the radar personality. He is very anti-drama. He comes off as indifferent, but love is definitely up his sleeve.

NIKO (Early to mid 20’s, male identifying actor. Black or Hispanic) - Gen Z on fleek. He’s not here for your BS or anyone else’s. In chaos he remains collected. Though the youngest the group, Niko is wise beyond his years.

TONY (Late 30’s - mid 40’s, male identifying actor. Any ethnicity) - He’s firm and direct. Tony will quickly step in and mediate a situation if he feels things are getting out of hand. He’d rather be a fly on the wall than centerstage.
